That's really helpful information, John for those of us who have ancestors
from Fenais de Ajuda. Thankyou so much.

Thanks George. If you saw my other note I wanted the record for Emilia right
above the one for Maria. Sorry.

Lee,
The child's name is Bartolomeu. I'm not sure about the father's last name.
Usually, if the father and mother have the same last name, the priest would
write Manoel e Ysabel Frs. [Fernandes], In this case both father and mother
have a last surname, separately, unless is an exception.

I know that Manoel was from Luz - I cannot see any parents name for him.

Shirley,
I like the succinct manner you reported in this baptism.
Everyone could learn from this. I also like the way Margaret Vicente

It looks like Joam martins e sua mulher Barbara Royz. And the priest is none
other than Frutuoso. No, I guess his name appears at the top.

I'm reading widower but of Catarina Fialha. He wrote like this:
Manoel Affonso dornellas veuvode (sic) Ca
teri na fialha.
His "viuvo" looks like "beuvo." Then he had to run the "de" into it. Ugh.

I'm doing some research for my cousin and have found her great
grandparent's marriage record in Mosteiros. Can someone help me with the
names on this record. I can read the information about the groom, but I
can't make out the bride's father's surname and the bride's mother's name?

Hi Edna,
Yes, I think this is the same Emilia that married José. All the dates seem
to match up. It says that Emilia married José Garcia do Santo(?) in Horta
September 7, 1927 and that she passed away in the parish of Castelo Branco
in Horta on March 8, 1967.

JR,
Thanks for the translation and going the extra mile to get the baptismal
for Manoel Raposo. I was guessing Ignacio or Innocencio for the wife's
father's surname on the marriage. This priest had an odd way of not
connecting the bottom of his letters.
The baptismal is helpful. It is curiou
