Jo Anne,
Tell me about. Sam's Club used to carry Silva's and they no longer do.
They carry this Hawaiian linguica and I tried it and did not like it all.
Was really disappointed. I asked them to please go back to the Silva's
about a year ago to no avail. BUTMy Walmart carries Silva's
Try barceloslinguica.com http://barceloslinguica.com/. They are in
California and ship. They are nitrate free products. I personally have not
tried them, but they are on my list because of being nitrate free.

All this snow we have is the price of having both Chourso and Linguica at the
local Grocery store. A real treat is to slice it thin and put it on a pizza. I
think both Gaspars and de Costa brands are made in Fall River.

Jo Anne,
I know that Gouveia is a Hawaiian brand of linguiça. It tastes different to
me. Way more mild. I'm told that the east coast linguica has more of a
bite or possible more vinegar (?) in it and California makes it without so
much kick. I have a friend from Massachusetts, non-Portuguese.
Since we are talking Linguiça I like Fernandes Caseira (Homemade style)
Smoked Linguiça. I have had Barcelos brand and I do like it because it is
nitrate free, but Fernandes is closest to what my grandmother used to get.
I can't remember the brand she got, but it was made in San Leandro.

Are my taste buds totally gone? This version of linguica was way off the

We buy Taylor's linguica in the grocery stores up here in Oregon...it's
excellent. They sell it in a 4 pack. Here's their website:

From my trips to Hawaii the product served as linguica was a Spam product
that tasted like Spam with linguica spices and seasonings.

Hello Patricia Butcher,
Do you still research da Rosa de Escobar family history?
I have previously corresponded with you.
I will visit Faial this year so I have been re-reading e mails and
organizing history.
In a 2002 e mail, you had mentioned a Henry Escobar living in California.
