If I remember right in 1911 the events -birth- marriage-deaths are in the
civil registration offices. There should still be copy in the parish I
would think.
I am sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

I’m traveling to Flores, my home island, in late August with my cousin Deanna.
We hope to find other cousins still living there. Our direct ancestors left in
1880, but thanks to Cheri and Rosemarie’s super workshop in Salt Lake City I’ve
now got a huge pre-1910 family tree. They were fertile
Greetings Manny,
I'm curious if the J1-M365 is from your father-in-law or from your side. Since
I match you and Uncle John matches Ana, I'm wondering.

After 1910, the Civil Registries have the records. They probably won't let
you do searches. The same for the churches. It's really hard to work
forward with the records. I've had limited luck on one ancestor on Sao
Miguel. And it took a lot of pleading (but we had a time frame for her).

Who are you looking for? I probably can help you. I have 3 sources to look in.

Just wondering what is written in the left column of my great grand aunts
baptismo record. The record begins on the left page and ends on the upper

Hank,
I've connected with many Flores relatives in my research. One gave me
copies of censuses from the Ponta Delgada area taken in 1915 and 1922. He
said he got them from the local library there.

of ships arriving in Portugal from Brazil around that time period?

Most churches do not have records before 1910 because they were confiscated by
the new Republic and became civil records. Records before 1914 should be at
the Archives and are usually available.
As for post 1910 Church records, those are kept at the local parish. Access to
them depends
Manny what surname does your uncle's line lead to in Sao Mateus I have
several lines that lead there. I already know the other line leads to a
Brum in the 1800's. It would be so much easier if some lines didn't change
the surname every few generations.
