What is the reference made to Pedro(?) da Sylva and Ana Souza(?) filha
Manuel?
Thanks,

When a record lists a person and then after their name lists "exposto" what
is the context of that word? I am not familiar with this context.
Thanks!

Exposto (male) or exposta (female) is an orphaned baby or foundling. Mom
was most likely not married and left the baby at the church.

Mark,
It say the child Joao is the natural son of Emilia de Jesus married to
Rufino da Camara who was away or may have imigrated more than 2 years ago.
It goes on to list the maternal grandparents with the paternal grandparents
being "unknown" incognito.

Mark,
Umm, mom, Emilia, is kinda lonely without Rufino being there. :) Either
that, or he left because he realized something was going on. Or maybe he
did have to leave and Emilia needed help and it evolved into something
else. Who knows, you can only let your imagination run wild because the
1975?? Is that a typo for 1875?
I was told my immigrants married in Providence, too. One was counted in at
Ellis Island and the other came through Boston. They married in New
Bedford. Therefore, assumptions are dangerous things. Assume nothing.
Are you finding your ancestors on the 1880 in RI?
Manoel Travallos and Maria da Costa?

Thanks again for the help. I don't think this is the couple I am looking
for. I was hoping Joao and Maria were the parents of my Manoel da Silva
Pementel from my last post that you helped me with.
I was looking for the marriage of Joam da Silva Fajoeira and Maria de

WDorr,
The three key pieces that genealogists look for are a name, a date, and a
place. You should start 2 new emails and title one Chase and Duarte,
1852-1880 in _ and put what you know (where you've found them, what
you've been able to research on them). Then in the 2nd email, title it
I have a general question regarding FTDNA notification of matches. I have
several family members and non members, not Azores..sorry, that I am

of matches. However, on our Sharp matches...not very many...the last

Anita,
You need to do a lot more work with U.S. records before trying to find Pico
connection. You need to find that freguesia (village) over there.
You also need a genealogy software program, either on your computer or
online to keep things straight. And you will find it much easier to use
Wow! What an incredibly CLEAR record for the 1600s! Someone should hug
that priest!
The "u" and the "v"s are the same. He spelled what looks like "Cauouco,"
but that's too many vowels, so it makes sense that one of them would be a
"v." Cavouco. The 2nd letter is definitely an "a" and the 2nd to
