Gee, almost all the same surnames that I have!! LOL I hope that the
genealogies help extend your lines. They helped me with my Isabel Sousa,
took her back into Portugal/Spain/France!
And yes, I would love to visit with you in Pico but I HATE to fly!! Maybe
someday if they knock me out!!

I noticed my ancestor, Fernao Luis de Sousa listed under "Luis"named his
son so I know it's the right one...perhaps I'll find him in other places as
well. But that's my dad's line and the Norte Grande/Velas folks are my mom's,
da Sousa Pereira, Poderoso, Avila, Bettencourt, Vieira,
Hi Mike,
In Portuguese you will be looking for Antonio Carlos Pavao. His parents
would be Joao C. Pavao and Maria. Maria's parents would be Jose Viveiros
and Maria Torres. The ship bound for Hawaii left from the port of Ponta
Delgada on Sao Miguel island.

Good Luck, Nancy! I envy you your time in Pico! Hope you can figure out the
index, it's by first name but then, most indexes in the Azores ARE by first

Thanks for the infowe have no FHC near me here in the boonies. I wish I
could go to the Conference in SLC but I won't be back from Pico until mid Nov
this year. This link you gave me though has promise for plenty of reading! I
just need to figure out using it.
Kindest of Regards Prima!
Hello!
I am looking for the family of my great great granfdfather, Anthony Carlos
Piva (Pavao). He was born in the Azores, but lived in Hawaii when he was
married. As far back as I have is his parents John C. and Mary Pavao from
Sao Miguel and his wife's parents Joseph Viveiros and Mary
No, Nancy, you have to order it. I was hoping that it would be digitized
already but it's not. I have it here in my FHC and it may be in other
places but I don't think it's in Arkansas!! One of the good things about
going to SLC it that all the films are at our fingertips, which helps
sometimes.
Rosemarie, is that film available on line?

That's great, Nancy Jean! I also scoured Family Search.org trying to find
which Sao Jorge film had the other genealogy and it's #1330512, item #6. I
can't remember much about it, it's been years since I've looked but you may
find other info there!

Thanks Rosemarie,
I spent quite a bit of time scanning it for family names and indeed found
several.also, now realize the de Sousa Pereira line has used that
combination of names for quite a while! Today maybe I can figure out how to
really use the index to find the families within the
