Although I agree that the script was not consistent (imagine that) so Santa
does not look like it starts with the same letter as Silveira, I still
think it might be "Santa".
Here is Maria Rita's page on CITCEM which gives her father as Antonio
Pereira Silveira Santa
Thanks All for help

He was 62. Sessenta (60) vs. setenta (70). Alphabetize "sessenta" and
"setenta" and it follows 60 and 70 (also "sete" is 7 so "setenta" is 70).
He's a worker, native of this freguesia, son of Antonio Silveira Santa, and
of Rosa Maria, natives of this freguesia. He did not leave a will, did not
The word after the father's name is not Santa. It's not the same "S" as in
Silveira.
It says she died with no will and left 6 kids. Not that the kids witnessed
her death.

Sometimes, where there's some type of natural disaster, such as an
earthquake, the priest will note at the beginning of that section that the
following died due to the earthquake. Remember though that you are
researching Catholic sacramental records which was to record the sacrament

I see that she died 11 March 1889, 80 years old, wife of Jose Francisco da
Rosa, daughter of Antonio Silveira ?? and Maria Rosa. Witnesses were her 6
children and she was buried in the public cemetery. I don’t think it says what
she died of. Maybe someone else can get the word after
Umm, Liz, that's the file path in your computer where you saved the
document. You need to post the link/URL to the document from the CCA.

HI R. Downey,
Yes, typically people can pick out the names first, the months second, and
the dates are last. And those probably have the largest learning curve.
Many of us on this list that help "read" the records learned through
perseverance. Lots of practice and it does start to make sense.

Left Side Antonio Silveira Santa February 12, 1889
does it say he was single?
Or is there a wife's name I missed somewhere?
Does it say he was 72?
What is the mention of filhos close to the end?
Thank you
Liz
Thank you every bit of help gets me a bit better. The dates are a struggle
for me probably because I don't speak Portuguese, but will practice with
the numbers next! I would have never figured Furtado!!! Thank you!
