I am beginning to look for my Great-grandmother in the passport records.
According to family tradition, she came without her parents. She married
in California at age 16. Census records suggest she came possibly as young
as 8. Would she be listed individually? I haven't seen any ages that are

I've enjoyed the thread about Hawaii, Massachusetts or Brazil. Does anyone
know the background of the migration to California. There was a large
concentration of Portuguese in Newcastle, CA where I grew up. Family
tradition says that my great-grandmother came from Flores in the early
1880's beca
My mother was 100% from the Azores. My dad was basically English and

Do you have any clues about the family in Sacramento? I have contact with
several Perry families in the Auburn/Sacramento area.

Cheri, You have my permission also. I did email Susan Vargas. She is in
the Azores. We are going to compare family trees when she gets back.

Cheri,
I did my DNA and get reports periodically, but I have never been able to
figure anything out. Can you figure out any clues from what you can see?
Thank you,

Thank you! All I remember is a big soup pot and eggs. When I asked a
cousin many years later, they thought Great-Grandmother must have been
making kale soup. The recipes for kale soup I found did not include eggs so
this recipe was interesting. Unfortunately none of Great-grandmother's
recipes
Was it always served over something, or as a soup also? This is the closest
to what I remember my great grandmother making. I just remember a huge pot
on the stove and eggs being put in it. I don't know whether I ate it or we
just happened to be there while she was cooking.
