Thanks, not sure if I have enough info that's why I wanted to search through census slowly. Ancestry was just on sale and I didn't think I needed it anymore as I usually use the tombo site. But perhaps you could give it a quick try. Don't spend alot of time on it. John Andrade died in Bristol,

The only census type record that exists for the Azores are the Confession Rolls. The priest recorded the names of everyone who received confession during Lent, I believe.
