I've never heard anyone say "I'm from the Matriz" either. I concur on that. In my Ribeira Quente research, I found all my ancestors from Ponta Garca. Are you sure you meant Sao Miguel Arcanjo? Maybe it's in a different time period. I know Ribeira das Tainhas was under Sao Miguel Arcanjo. Cher
