Hi everyone, does any one know how many Mattos family's there were in Sao
Jorge in the late 1800's ? I know my Great Grandmother was Mattos and was
from there but don't know any more than that so If there were only a few
that would narrow my search down a little bit. Also what is the
pronunciation

Probably a lot of Mattos families would be my guess.
I would say that Mateus is closer to your Mutuse. I think Mattos is more
like MAH-tosh.
