Nancy,
I think opportune to remark that ‘moreno’ in portuguese has its
etymological root in the word ‘Mouro’, ‘Moor’ in english.
So, I believe that back in the past the word moreno was specifically used
for tanned skin people of mixed Berber and Arab descent.
