way to know the parents of Bartolomeu Afonso Travassos. Unfortunately
there's no notarial record to clarify the question either.

The only way you will be able to prove is Jose and Vital may be the same
would be for a strict-line male descendant from "Jose" to DNA test and a
strict line male descendant from "Vital" to test (this would be a Y-DNA).
