I do have a lead, of a sort, in The Azores. I just need to get the
funding together to obtain death certificates so I can get the names
of the great-grandparents and then trace their family trees on back.
I was just curious as to if others, on this list, were researching the
same families.

Since you have a name, date, and place, you can just order the film from
your local FHC and start looking. The records in the Azores are mainly the
Catholic baptisms, marriages, and deaths.
Go to the FHLC and type in Sao Vicente Ferreira or Arrifes and have someone
help you order the film.
Here's what I have on the grandparents
of my friend:
Manoel/Manuel NUNES (born circa 1867),
came from Sao Vicente Ferreira, Sao Miguel,
The Azores to Fall River, Massachusetts circa
1887.
His first marriage to Maria MACHADO took place,
in Fall River, Massachusetts, on February 2, 1891.
