Hi guys,
I have setup backuppc running on Centos5.7. I have a vlan setup with
different subnets. Am trying to resolve the computer names by name hence
using nmblookup. Am only able to resolve the machine on the same subnet as
the backup server. I can ping machines on the other subnets but when I

Fair enough, as long as you admit it's prejudice on your part. There's
a lot of history of Unix being prove

The laptops I back up have both a wired and wireless Ethernet
connection with (different) MAC addresses.
I use static DNS so that when the laptops are attached at home they
are given a fixed (known) IP address so that BackupPC can find them
using my /etc/hosts file.
On my old D-Link router, I use

If you do a 'ls -al /home' using a command shell (command line) on the
machine in question does it show files, or just the usual '.' and '..'

Hi backupers, I am projecting a migration in my backup server file system,
to a LVM structure in order to enlarge my actual and future disk capacity.
For that pourpose, I have to delete some backups but I am having problems
with script /BackupPC_deleteBackup.sh. When I execute it, this is the

Are there any files in /home?
BackupPC will exit if it does not find any files, because it assumes some
disastrous error has occurred and it does not want to clobber good
Hi,
I had to realize there's something going wrong with my attempt.
Anyone having a clue why the backup does not succeed?
vmfs/volumes/B/ad/vmware.log
[ skipped 58 lines ]
tarExtract: Done: 0 errors, 6 filesExist, 56 sizeExist, 208 sizeExistComp, 57
filesTotal, 6068247 sizeTotal
Got fatal error
Oh, just as an addition:
I'm skipping now the snapshot related files *vmss and *vmsn, too. In
case you want this too, just add the two "grep" commands.
Greetings

wrapper to get it done.
First, what are the issues with backing up ESXi?
1. ESXi does not allow ssh access by default
2. If ssh access enabled, it does not allow key-based authentication by
default
3. ESXi does not have rs
