H. I'd just used "samba", assuming regexp. Thanks, I'll put the
explicit entries instead. I suppose the intent is that it's rarely
used, if they are doing explicit matches :-)

This is an update, of sorts. I appreciate that this is the BackupPC
list, not a samba-related list, but it first and foremost impacted my
ability to use BackupPC - though things got worse, as you'll see.
The release of Samba 3.0.23 (or earlier versions, for I found a report
that mentioned 3.0.
I've created bug #3954 at https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3954
Now we'll see if it resonates with anyone else. I can only imagine that
millions of BackupPC users are noticing this today, or they will
tomorrow :-)
If the Samba developers can't/won't address the problem, I'll set up

Minor update. Reading code shows that BackupPC does indeed set the
environment variable PASSWD.
So, if the samba docs have not changed, does that mean the actual
running code has not changed? I'm not convinced, but I have no data at
this point. Looking over the 3.0.23 release notes, there ar
ructions
did not work either.
Still looking here, but I don't have time for this stuff right now :-(

I am going to try his solution today. I haven't had time so my internet

I love the commas, I use them to run jobs every 12 minutes, or 10 times an
hour :-)

This is purely a "straw man" approach, entirely built using my limited
knowledge of Notes on the server side, and my *nix skills :-)
Notes "compacts" and updates indexes for databases, typically using
server agents, which (typically) run at night. If you have archiving -

I'm not a developer of BackupPC and I don't know anything about "VSS" at
this point, so I'll just step aside now and wait with you for other
opinions, Scott :-)

Sounds like you're on a quest, Rick! An adventure!
I can only help a small bit - I set up backuppc in the recent past; the
pain is still fresh, but I learned fast.
I had the same 4-bytes error when I ran downrev versions of rsync on the
client. In my case, the server was FC4, the "client" w

Hi, all. I'm new to this list, but have been over the archives, and
have mostly solved the problems I've been seeing. I'm growing my pool
of backed-up boxes slowly, as they are all different in one way or another.
I saw an email with the subject above, sent by "edjee007" on/about 9/1.
