Jean-GĂ©rard,
did you ever solve your problem? I'm using a package called xtar that
correctly handles OS X resource forks, but it would be great to use
rsync instead.
Does anyone know if Leopard's rync plays nicer with linux rsync?
Almost all of my clients are currently OS X 10.4, but eventuall
Hello,
I made the mistake of reinstalling backuppc with apt-get when it wasn't
needed (I'm still learning, dumb mistake). I think I overwrote some
important settings and permissions.
Backup Nightly is running, but not removing any files. I think that it
should be. Also, my error log is showing
Hello all,
I have been happily testing my backuppc installation for about a month.
Over Christmas break something went wrong. It seems that the backuppc
web interface just stopped working. It just doesn't show up. Instead the
contents of /var/www/ are shown. I have restarted the machine and hav
acked up with the tar that came
with OS X 10.4.
I hope this information will be of use to others.

7;m testing the backups on is OS
X Server 10.4.11. I installed backuppc using ubuntu's package manager
(aptitude from the command line) and I'm attempting to configure
backuppc from its web interface.
thanks for any help you can give.

Hello Rich,
thanks for the tip. That was it. I just assumed that it was installed
and didn't read the errors carefully enough.
I appreciate your help.

I still think that I would use LVM since it gives you some

Hello,
I am building a server for BackupPC and I have a few questions
concerning what is the best way to set up storage.
I have one 80 GB IDE hard disk that will hold the operating system
(ubuntu server), /boot, swap, et cetera.
I also have four 500 GB IDE hard disks. I'm wondering what you wo
OS X files
and if that requires me to use tar instead of rsync.
thanks for your time,
