As Carl suggested, manually forcing a static IP address through DHCP is the best solution. However, if that's not an option for whatever reason, the only other option would be to ensure that your dhcpd service is properly connected/integrated with bind [named] (assuming you are using these). T

Mike, Have you checked your reverse DNS PTR records? In other words, did you do an nslookup on 192.168.1.117 to ensure it points back to the host? If that's not correct, try correcting it and see what happens. For some reason, I remember having a similar problem and it ended up being a rever

Daniel, That would be why you are having problems. rsyncd running from within cygwin uses different paths than native WINDOWS. Please see below for an example of a correct rsyncd.conf: uid = 0 gid = 0 use chroot = false max connections = 4 lock file = /cygdrive/c/rsyncd/rsyncd.lock [cDrive]

Hi Erik, If you are backing up your main backup folder, you will have all the data you need except for the default config.pl file and the hosts file (which you could rebuild by traversing your TOPDIR). However, just to make life easier on you, I would suggest backing up your /etc/ folder daily

You also might want to take a look at the local machine's rsyncd.conf file to ensure that nothing strange is setup there. If you are using cygwin, your path for the [cDrive] (or whatever you named it) should be: /cygdrive/c/ . >From the log files you gave, that's what it looks to be. Hope this
