Just a small addition to David's procedure.
To create SSH public/private keys *WITHOUT__*__password with the linux
command "ssh-keygen -t rsa", press just *ENTER *when this command ask :
/Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase)://
//Enter same passphrase again:/

On a new install of BackupPC v4 alpha3, I have zip/tar archive file
empty when i try to restore a directory or many files from the BackupPC GUI.
(Full Backup or Inc Backup)
