Hi All, First of  all to Meska,  I am also using SUSE 9.3 and MySQL  5.0.15 and everythings works fine. Your problem maybe related mysql-safe. I like to ask for advice in buying a tape driver. Dell's DAT72 Tape Drive is low cost and offer 12.6G/hr native rate. But do it works with bacula?
