before but have no idea how to read it or why it works. Can you point me to

If you don't have the book,
this perl.exe and my app on a server that does not have Active Perl
installed looks like it would work, but some of the syntax is not happy. I
suspect this is an old version.
Is there something like this ( a stand-alone product) still available that is
more up to date?
