I got a book from a new friend today. It is the most comprehensive book
on anything that I've ever seen (except for the Durants' Story of
Civilization). It's ostensibly about Akitas, but the information in it
is great for any of us.

Orla was a pistol as a pup. She told our then 6 year old, 100 lb, dominant
male, that at 8 weeks of age she was going to be boss, which she was and
still is. Orla was a power chewer and destroyed every toy they ever made.

Hi Terry and Cathy,
The condition you are refering to is called panosteitis aka wandering
lameness but this is different from bone pain experienced by some puppies

For those berner-lers within range of the Carolina/Virginia area, the Blue Ridge BMD Club has a fairly active year planned. We have something planned for nearly every month, and all over our club's territory. Here is a brief overview of the events planned for the year. If anyone is

I just got a phone call from my friend, Kevin Nolet, sharing his good news
that George is a new champion!
Happens every day, right? Well, I'm sure if I'm mistaken, someone will
certainly correct me, but George may
have just made Bernese history. George is officially *CH* Hope's Georgia

I've been a mostly silent reader of this list for about the past 9 months.
It's been a tremendous resource for getting to know the breed better, and
reading everyone's comments, joys and sorrows about their Berners... so
much so that my partner Steve and I have decided to take the plunge, too

Thought you might be interested in this, fellow berner-l listers ...
There are a number of folks out there with both Cavaliers Berners
yes, lots of Berner stuff is shared on the Cavalier lists ...

A thick cold fog surrounds us as I unload my skis and big overnight pack
from the car, getting ready for a three day ski camping trip in the
mountains. The Berner boys whirl around in the snow, chasing each other and
barking with excitement. I hope we will be able to climb high enough to
