what guidelines should I use to determine how to
limit (or increase) her activities based on the OFA ratings? Should I
use these ratings to decide the necessity of supplimenting her diet
with glucosamine?
Thanks everyone!

I know the standard answer to the raised food bowl issue is to quote
the Purdue study. But can anyone tell me, are there any other known
studies that have either contradicted or confirmed the results at
Purdue? Is Purdue the only known study done, or just the latest, or
the most respected?

Cindy - I don't have any answers - but the same questions you do.
I'd love if you can share with me what you find out (as I know people
don't all post their replies to the list and may just email you
privately with their response.

We've
trained her to wait at the top until my daughter's gone down, but it
still scares me.
In the heat...Jewel prefers the comforts of the air conditioning and
doesn't tolerate much time outside. We even have curtailed 8:00 PM
training classes in the hottest summer months. And no lo
eunion, there was applause
(no kidding). Everyone in town knew that Riley was missing and these people
witnessed his being found. These were the worst 12 hours of my life--the
uncertainty was terrible. However, Riley now does not let us out of his
sight.
Hug your berners.

Don't we assume the olden Farmer/dog-owner himself was more sturdy
and healthy than his modern day counterpart as well?
But he wasn't longer-lived.

I wanted to add how relatively inexpensive it is, too. I had my dog
chipped a few weeks ago and it was only an additional $28 charge at
the vet to have it done during a routine visit, and another $10 to
the registry company for her AVID chip. I expected it to cost to much
more.
