I'm very proud of Greta. This past weekend was the second time ever in an
excellent standard course (preferred) and she Q's with a first place and 13
seconds under time. I've had Greta in preferred agility until we work out
our kinks as a team. Greta has matured a lot lately and is jumping very

I recently went to an agility seminar and Greta and her Golden friend were
in an x-pen together when we were working. It was warm but they were under a
tent like covering. The Golden had a canine cooler that was in the x-pen.
Greta was on it half the time, if not more. At one point Greta and the

If rally obedience was offered at the 2004 specialty I'd help out too. The
only reason I wouldn't do rally is if it conflicted with another performance
event I entered.

My Greta did something this past weekend I wanted to share. My dog club
had a picnic at the lake near where we live. Our picnic site had a roof
over several picnic tables, then there was a wooded hill down to the water.
There were a few of us down at the water. Greta, who has become quite the

I just felt like throwing in my two cents.
The first thing I think when someone posts to the list and says how a
breeder has been "mean" to them because they were asked some questions from
the breeder is to stop whining and think. If a breeder is worth anything
they will ask questions. I perso
My vet got the lab work back on Gunner. He had a hemangiosarcoma. They
said it was on his spleen and part of it ruptured and got into the omentam
(sp?) which is the tissue around the intestines. The prognosis on the
report was "very grave". It sounded like he had no chance at all. I'm just

I'm so sorry to say that last night I had to put my big berner boy, Gunner,
down. He and Mattie are now together. It all happened so fast and, of
course, my husband is out of town too.
The day before I could tell Gunner didn't feel that well. He sometimes had
days where he just wasn't 100%. I'
When my Greta turned 1 year old, she realized she's a guard dog. If there
is a male coming at me she will sometimes let them know that she is there.
It's not a vicious bark, just a very confident "I'm letting you know I'm
here" tone. If the person comes up to me and wants to meet Greta. As soon

Because there are to many pups ending up in bad situations and are bred
without regard to health and temperament and that doesn't help the breed. I
applaud a breeder who does all the leg work to breed a litter for the right
reasons and not just for a buck. As fa

I guess I'm in the minority here. I have used rimadyl on Gunner with no
problems at all, in fact, it works great on him.
Gunner doesn't have the best joints. Abou

This probably won't be much help, but in my opinion there is no "correct"
time. I know people who have gotten another dog right away and I know of
some who never get another (I personally couldn't live with that). You just
know when you're ready.

First of all I want to thank everyone who responded to me regarding
Gunner's mast cell tumor. I didn't get back to everyone individually like I
intended, but I appreciated so much the imput. It made me feel much better.
After finding out the results weren't conclusive I made an appt. for Gunner
Last week I had a lump taken off Gunner. It was on his side just under the
skin. I found out this evening it's a mast cell. The vet said that's it's a
grade 1 (I guess if you have a mast cell that's the good news). He said the
pathologist could not definitely say they got it all. So the vet want
I'm one of those that believes a good run off leash is great for dogs and
can't imagine my dogs not being able to do it. I have one Berner who thinks
100 feet is far enough to walk and one who is in perpetual motion. I'm not
saying the only way for a dog to be happy is for it run off leash. Off
When Greta was young I was in an obedience class where they taught the
"controlled" play and the pinching technique too, which I wasn't comfortable
with either. I just didn't do it.
Greta does not need to be "forced" to play, but yes, she could be
distracted, she was very young at the time. She
