Thought it was time to stick my feet into the 6.* world. I have been
running 5.4.something for a long long time
So I downloaded the current nightly
slimserver-2005_10_11-1.noarch.rpm
onto my Mandrava 10.1 system.
Pointed urpmi at it, and hit enter.
Took a while, maybe 4 or 5 minutes to install t
Neither zipping nor installing a new version atop of an old one will
deal with Windows registry entries, uninstall data, obsoleted plug-ins
or skins, so beware.

My way is slightly simpler. I just make a copy of the whole SlimServer
installation folder under a different name. Then I run the regular
installer to install over the old one. (The first time I tried 6.2 I
also had to clear the cache folder and the prefs file.)

bug that demonstrate the problem. I've usually created "fake" audio
files containing just a few seconds of silence but that contain all the

Here's what I do. I'm assuming you're on Windows.
Shutdown down the Slimserver service and kill the SlimTray exe to
remove lockes on the database etc..
Then zip the entire c:\program files\Slimserver directory. I normally
call it Slimserver_dd_mm_yy.zip.

I've had some trouble with getting Swedish characters åäöÅÄÖ to work in
Linux and have done some testing with different versions of Slimserver.
All mp3 files are on a Linux-pc (Red Hat 9) that are also running
