As the title says - I used to have a recan scheduled for 02:00 every
day, but now can't find the setting... using last night's 6.5b3 on
windows.

You're not the only one! Same thing has happened to me several times,
but I was never quite sure that it might be related to other things
going on (such as playing poorly written games!)

recognise the plugin (even though I have on-the-fly set) but it

I think I got it into the state where the 6.3.1 server thought the 2.8
client was a previous generation of client. I did not upgrade Server
and Client in an orderly sequence. I think I tried to install and run
the 1.12 Softsqueeze client under 6.3.1, and
