With the prefs moved to /var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs is there any need
for /etc/squeezecenter files (or symlinks) at all?

I had the same problem. I'd actually copied my old
/etc/squeezecenter/server.prefs file across to
/var/lib/squeezecenter/server.prefs so as to avoid changing all
Did the upgrade to 17113 but once again I was presented with the

Is there a way to keep the squeezecenter service from automatically
restarting after a yum update? Is this a feature of the rpm, or is
this something that yum does automatically?

With the latest windows library, the Classic skin is now more or less
completely busted.
SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17075 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252

Changing the /etc/squeezecenter directory to a symlink to

/var/lib/../prefs to /etc/squeezecenter.

I may have done it wrong, but I tried "touch"ing server.prefs in

touched file was owned by squeezecenter:nogroup.
I'm willing to try it though...

ok... lets try again. :) I'm building another package with a 'touch
server.prefs' essentially. This way if the file doesnt exist, it
creates it. if it does exist, nothing really happens... give it a
little time to build and upload.

I wonder which file from /var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs
is required to be in /etc/squeezecenter?
Or is is just the naming of server.conf -> server.prefs

I just grabbed 17072 and installed it clean.
While the symlinks are now corrected, it still doesn't run for me (same
errors).
The symlink in /etc/squeezecenter looks like this:
--
lrwxrwxrwx 1 squeezecenter nogroup 41 2008-02-01 13:08 server.conf ->
/var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs
--
still requires me to link /etc/squeezecenter to
/usr/lib/squeezecenter/prefs to prevent constant restart scenario.
Can you confirm the whether the server.conf file has
been renamed to server.prefs?

Hmmm I'm beginning to think I don't have SB2s, but SB1s, judging from
the firmware version (40, not 46 as I said earlier) and the fact that
SqueezeCenter reports them back as "squeezebox". Well, that would
explain it, anyway. Thanks for your help.

Ah, forcing down SqueezeCenter as well and starting it back up seems to
have solved the problem for now.
It's now happily scanning my music.
I guess it's up to me now to figure out where the file is that's
causing the recursion.
Thanks for the assistance.

Last night's build (17071) still has the problem.
As mandarb points out, if you "fix" (or fudge) the symbolic link found
in /etc/squeezecenter, you can get things running.

For the last couple weeks, the Squeezecenter 7 exe has been running for
10-15 minutes on start-up on every 4th or 5th start-up. What is
causing this to happen? Which log should I turn on to get more
information.
I'm running Windows XP and have about 57000 tracks in my music library.

It's imho a Windows issue, related to what I described earlier. As _nothing_
has changed in this part of the SC code in weeks, a new build can't change the
behaviour.

Steve, thanks for the link. As it turns out, it is not that easy to tell

all of the file types to allow. I suppose I could tell it to ignore the
