it's a checked out trunk version from (no gentoo build). server is checked out to /opt/SqueezeCenter_svn/ as non-root user. this user is the same one running slimserver.pl (altough started as root and using the --user option to change uid) and owning all files... -- schiegl

Looks like the scanner is trying to migrate preferences, which should only occur in the server when it is first started and has not saved preference files in the new format. So the question is did you start the scanner with the location of the preference folder if it is a non default location?

OK. I'm not familiar with the actual error you're seeing, but it seems like a permissions issue. I've also never used --user and --group but bug 5035 suggests they are broken. You might want to try running both SC and the scanner by changing the user with su instead. -- Fletch
