I was also wondering if it is possible to do a remote upload from a smart phone.
Can't drag & drop into browser, but if there was a new Web UI menu option to

I guess you're an Android user, as iOS afaik wouldn't give you access to
music files... but this would of course be poss

Technically possible. But you wouldn't like it, as LMS would have to
find that file on your disk somehow. And tha
very often. Only if I want to play a song I just downloaded or ripped
while I haven't rescanned the library.
That's mostly my use case, too: verify some newly ripped files before
adding them to the library.

You can drop anything. It just doesn't work for most file types :-P.
Playlists should work. But as noted elsewhere the tmp:// handler still
has some issues with playlists. It's somewhere on my todo list.

I just checked and was surprised that I have quite a few flac files with
more than 100 MB. The biggest (up to 540mb) were some 24/96 tracks from
a Mike Oldfield album. Usually I don't care about hires versions but
even my largest non-hires tracks are more than 300mb (Klaus Schulze).

Worked perfectly! I dropped some files located on a different computer
(running Windows 10) to the one running LMS using the LMS web
interface.
Thanks for this nice new feature.

Very nice function! I often need to listen to songs for band practice,
and i don't always want to add those songs to my library. I used the
Youtube plugin for that, but that almost never worked. This is what I
was waiting for!

Looks like a really nice feature, but 3 out of 4 files failed, I hit the
100MB limit...
What kind of files did you try to play? How large are they? If you had
an option to modify that limit, would you use it, not bothering about
the server side memory consumption and disk usage?

Hi Michael,
This does not work for me at all on any of my 3 browsers, so a few
questions !
Does the LMS server need to be on the same machine as the broswer is
running ?
Is this feature filetype independent (I use FLAC mostly) ?
What versions of LMS is this feature running on ?
I'm using:-

I hoped somebody would see this new feature... but oh well, I'll ask you
to comment on it :-)
I've added a way to play music files from your computer by dropping them
on the web UI's right hand side panel. This would be one way to play
your music if you preferred browsing your collection in Windo
