Nope. These builds are all for FreeBSD 8, from which FreeNAS 8 is
derived. If you're brave enough to use FreeNAS 8, google SlimNAS8Pro.

Hi I would be interested in using this version.
I'm running FreeNAS 7 AMD64 on an HP Microserver.
I've only built the server this week so a complete newbie. Would your
build work on FreeNAS (based on FreeBSD) ?
Yours was the only AMD64 Squeezebox build I could find, so thanks for
the effort
Hi
Can your package be installed on FreeNAS 8.0, which is build upon
freeBSD 8.0?
If it was possible this would be a really good combination of
software.

I don't know. Which version of perl does the FreeNAS use? That's the
most important factor.
I've found
I asked at FreeNAS IRC - PERL is not included with FreeNAS.
They thought that it might be installed in FreeNAS 8.0 beta4.
Is that a possibility?

I have the FreeNAS-8.0.1-BETA4 ISO mounted here. There are traces of
perl 5.12.3 in the package database, but no binaries.
It surprises me to find it seems to be 32-bit i386: I was expecting
amd64 since it's got ZFS. So you can either:
1. Install the 7.X compatibility package, perl 5.8.9 and a
I doubt that there's much interest, even I won't be using it, but:

They asked me to be a manager, but I refused the lobotomy.
..Everything built from the ports system uses perl 5.10..
Not sure I understand this. If I do a fresh install of FreeBSD 8.2, do
a 'freebsd-update' followed by 'portsnap fetch update' and nothing
more, than the Squeezeboxserver port (7.5.4) installs Perl 5.12.4 and
the latest MySql. Which both

Um, I just wanted to mention that the real issue here isn't the OS
version, but the antique perl. FreeBSD 8.X happily runs 7.X binaries
(with a compatibility package installed), but includes perl 5.10 as
part of the standard distribution. Everything built from the ports
system uses perl 5.10, and
Just a quick thanks,
I'm admittedly a new FreeBSD user (started with 8) but i've build a few
boxes being used for different tasks, and never had any real problems
(very nice OS!). But trying to get Squeezeboxserver to play nice with
FreeBSD was beyond me. I've tried different SBS versions (7.5.3
SBS 7.6.1-r32935 built for FreeBSD 8.2, with perl 5.10.1.
Frankly, it's about time the official version was updated, but I'm
aware of certain manpower issues. In the meantime, any FreeBSD folk fed
up with installing old versions of perl and compatibility packages might
