We discussed this in IRC - at the moment the outliner has both selection where highlighting the items for further (right mouse menu) actions is the primary selection. this is needed for world/material/... any ID's that dont have selection of their own. Don't think its a good idea to just make

I wanted to add one more big problem. When you switch between materials, textures and other stuff and come back sometimes the textures panel is blank. The way to get it back is to roll your mouse button on it and it scrolls into view. This is a dumb problem that should not exist. When it first

As a long time Blender user, I have to say that I a very concerned about your proposed changes. I certainly appreciate that you are trying to improve Blender, but my main priority is that I can use Blender like I always did, since I am very comfortable with how the shortcuts are set up now.

Hi Mike, Be also aware that tkinter + blender is not working well in Blender cocoa builds (osx). It may be a python bug or a cocoa bug, we don't know. I'm following Jens Verwiebe (our OSX maintainer) solution and using AppleScripts instead. It works great if you don't use with trackpad mouses
