I found the problem, and was able to fix it for the next release. Thank you for
helping to figure this out.

When this happens, do you get the arrows when hovering? If so, does clicking
them get you the page content?

I use auto-file
My PDFs are now located inside Documents, which I also share via iCloud.
However, I relocated them there relatively recently and as best as I can
remember I had the same problem even when they were located in a non shared
folder.
I am on Sonoma 14.2.1

I am using auto-file, yes.
I don’t recall exactly when it started. But I don’t think it started with a
macOS update as I hadn’t updated for a long time. I was on Monterey and it had
been a problem for a while.
I thought perhaps updating to Ventura might solve it (I’m on an intel mac

And also, in which macOS version did this start? It obviously must be a problem
with newer OS systems, because we didn’t change.

I wonder, of you use auto-file? And where are the PDFs located, are they in the
same file system?

I see this all the time. I had not realized the “reload” fixes it — thanks!

Hi all,
For a while now, when I drag a PDF onto the side panel of an existing entry in
BibDesk, the PDF preview only shows a blank page.
It happens both, in the library list view as well as in the individual item
view.
I have to select “reload” from the context menu and then it correctly shows
There does not exist a (generic) way (protocol) to open a docuemnt at

Sorry for the noise if this has come up previously...since BibDesk's
thumbnail PDF previews can be paged through, it would be somewhat
useful if PDF preview (command-Y) and/or Skim invoked from a page
other than the first page of the thumbnail could open to that page.
For example, paging th
I also suggest you switch to Skim - this problem will go away and
you'll get other benefits as well.
I've especially enjoyed Bibdesk's display of notes I added to a PDF in
Skim recently. Very useful.

Ah, that's it.
I have to say I have decidedly mixed feelings about this feature
Could it be that you've enterded something in the search field? We
pass the search string for opening the PDF, and IIRC Preview then
zooms in on the result.

Hi all,
For some pdfs of papers (not all), if I double-click the PDF in
BibDesk, when it opens in preview, it is zoomed in quite a bit, and I
only see a portion of the page. If I double-click these same pdfs in
the finder, they open in fit-to-page mode (which is what I want). Is
