On my drive along 403/QEW from Hamilton to Oakville, I saw 14 Red-tailed
Hawks .. many more than the usual 4 or 5 ... could they be moving in? Some
were clearly paired .. others were close together ... spring can't be far
off!

This afternoon there were at least 20 Short-eared Owls along the 6th
Concession north of Fisherville. Photographers are urged to stay on the road
and not go up people's lanes as took place today.

since many of the same birds remain in the same places for weeks at a

As posted earlier, I will be meeting birders tomorrow morning (Friday,
31 January) at 9 a.m. at the Garden Gate parking lot in Blair to enter
Cruickston Charitable Research Reserve to view the SPOTTED TOWHEE that
was seen today and has been in the same area since mid-December.

Bryan Wyatt reported (and photographed) a Red-necked Grebe in the Otonabee
River just south of Lakefield yesterday. It was still there this morning,
Thursday Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. It's a 'good' bird in Peterborough Co. at
any time of the year. It was with Common Mergansers and Common Goldeneye.
