Kriders Red-tailed Hawk (adult)Thursday, Feb. 611 a.m., Abandoned CN spur
at Bond Ave. (Leslie and Lawrence).
There were four Redtails in this open area. This bird had a white tail with
a touch of pink by the dark tip. Since it is only a "variant" I cannot
recall seeing one in southern Ontario

I reported two gray-phased Gyrfalcon on the St. Mary's River today, in Sault
Ste. Marie around noon hour. My report indicated that both of these birds
were of large size and therefore possibly both female. I again saw these

Reports of gray-phased Gyrfalcon came in on January 27, 28 and 30th in Sault
Ste. Marie. All of these reports were only for single birds being seen
perched or flying at the foot of Pine Street (Canadian Forest Service).

Last week, my father, Franklin H. Folemsbee died in his 73rd year. He
was a longtime birder/bander with the Ontario Bird Banding Association
from the mid 1960s to the mid 1980s and participated in several projects
at Long Point and Point Pelee. In particular,
Lucky person. I was there both at dawn and at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and
couldn't find the owl. It was my fourth and fifth tries.
