This evening around 8.00 pm (Thursday May13) I saw a group of (what I assume
were) Great Egrets offshore, flying west and parallel with the north shore
of Lake Ontario in Burlington. It would be reasonable to predict they were
heading for Hamilton Harbour or Cootes Paradise.

May birding at Presqu'ile Provincial Park is almost always rewarding, but some
days are exceptionally good. Last Monday (May 10) was one such day. Since
then, with a steady high pressure system slowing migration, things have
returned to normal, pending the arrival of the next low. Birder act

The Piping Plover found today by John Dubois (finder of the Pink-footed
Goose) was seen this afternoon around 2:30pm. The bird was active along
the beach just west of the Aylmer Marina. There were quite a few people

The bird of the week in the Hamilton area was the
PIPING PLOVER seen near the Burlington Bea
Good concentrations of warblers were present at both Fish Point and Lighthouse
Point including PRAIRIE and MOURNING WARBLERS at the latter site. Fish Point
had a SUMMER TANAGER, CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW, 6 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS, 2 WHITE-EYED
VIREOS, BLACK-BILLED and YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS. A LAWRENCE'S

The Little Blue Heron was seen north of Brantford on Scenic Drive this AM
at 0600 hrs. After consultation with several other birders and a new view of
said bird, it was decided that it is an adult in breeding plumage.
