Because of the cloudy wet weather and
I saw a Great Gray Owl about 40km south of Kenora on Hwy 71 today. This
is the second GG I've seen this fall now. i saw the other one on Friday
Oct. 1st in a fairly remote area and thought at the time that it may
have been a local breeder -which would have been a good find in this
area. A
good evening, all.
i had a female rose breasted grosbeak on the east side of the hill at little
river today, about 5.00pm.
also present were numerous winter wrens, and the usual fall sparrows and
kinglets.
further south of the hill, still east of the creek, there were at least 3
fox sparrows,
Good morning all. Yesterday (Sunday) I was with Adam Pinch at the tip of Point
Pelee when he picked out a Yellow Palm Warbler amongst the innumerable
kinglets and Yellow-rumpeds at about 10:00 a.m. At about 2:00 p.m., I found
another myself near the Chesterfield Lookout at Hillman Marsh.

I am on reading week this week so I headed home to my parent's house
yesterday. This afternoon I decided to stand in the backyard for a
couple of hours and at about 2:15 I spotted a swallow flying in from the
west. It circled the yard feeding for about two minutes before
continuing east. If

The male Black-backed Woodpecker was still present late this afternoon
in Sandbanks Provincial Park in the same location where Margaret Bain
reported seeing it yesterday. We were also not able to locate the female.
