On my way in for a visit with my parents in Stoney Creek late Saturday
afternoon, I made a quick stop at Woodland Cemetary to scope the open water of
the bay between Hamilton and Aldershot. Perched in a tree on Carroll's Point
was a pair of immature Bald Eagles.
One eventually took flight
Today I saw a flock of 95 Horned Larks and 4 Snow Buntings. We saw the
flock on the 22nd and 25th but couldn't get a good count until today. They
are in a field with cattle who are being fed in large hay mangers on wheels.
There is no sign that the cattle are also being grain fed, but the larks
Saw a snowy owl, in the middle of a field, south-west of French-Hill and
O'Toole intersection, east of Ottawa. Also saw horned larks there, and
a few snow buntings on Frank Kenny, near Innes.

En route from Hamilton to Newmarket this morning I followed up on Gene Denzel's
Saturday report about Kleinburg-area birds and abandoned the 407 for feathered
fare. At the Nashville cemetary I found two Long-eared Owls. Unfortunately,
one of them flushed and drew the attention of some
