Today (Monday) we had between 500 and 700 Bohemian Waxwings in our backyard.
They occupied 5 trees and stayed long even to do a reasonably accurate count
and get pictures. The flock was in the wooded area between Yonge and
Edgewater Sts, north of the corner of Hazeldean and Terry Fox Dr.

Black Vulture
A female Harlequin Duck was in Cobourg Harbour this morning [Nov.12]
and early afternoon. It was found initially on Lake Ontario just
south of the west headland, but later was in the harbour itself,
feeding with a flock of Long-tailed Ducks near the harbour mouth.

A juvenile Northern Gannet continued to be seen off Van Wagners Beach in
Hamilton by myself and a number of others this afternoon (Nov. 12). The
bird was first spotted about 2:30 pm and was still there at 3:00. It was
actively feeding by plunge diving about one km offshore amongst a feeding

Spent most of yesterday, Nov. 11th, birding Presqu'ile Provincial Park.
Still lots of water birds around including 11 Red-throated Loon, 130+ Common
Loon, 110+ Horned Grebe mainly in Popham Bay. We also observed 21 species of
waterfowl including 1200+ Long-tailed Duck, 5000+ Red

The male Eurasian Wigeon was still present yesterday, Nov. 11th, late
afternoon at Elevator Bay/DuPont Plant. Also, on Amherst Island at dusk on
Nov. 10th, we observed 5 Short-eared Owls in the fields just south of
Stella. The lone Brant was still at the gravel bar, east end of t

Today at 10:55 I saw what I can only call an adult male "Oregon" subspecies
Dark-eyed Junco at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. Dark slate to black hood
strongly contrasting with chestnut back, light rufous wash on flanks. See

While closing up the cottage on Lake Cecebe near Magnetawan, ON we had some
late migrants still hanging around. Particularly a Common Loon in full
winter plumage and a Great Blue Heron still hunting around the our bay.

Grosbeak at her feeders off Highway 35 South of Lindsay near Janetville.
This is the first time she has had Evening Grosbeak at her feeders.

spotted Saturday November 10th, 2007 In Burlington.
Some thought domestic, while others said Call Duck, Wood Duck, and Mandarin.
