Today at 4:45 pm I had an adult Bald Eagle fly low over the 401 just west of
the Hwy 8 exchange. It was flying North along the river.

Hey Birders,
Mike and I drove down to Long Point today and had a pretty good day. Overall
it was really nice out with great conditions: calm, sunny and warm. We had a
little over 70 species for the day. Sparrows were particularly evident.

Sighted my first SNOW BUNTINGS today, 5 REDPOLLS, 12 AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, 4
HAIRY & 3 DOWNY WOODPECKERS, 12 JUNCOS, 2 NORTHERN CARDINALS. At the lake
the following birds were sighted: 1 TRUMPETER SWAN, 4 COMMON & 6 RED

Hi Everyone
Spent a few hours this morning birding the open water along the Ottawa
River at Deschenes Rapids and Remic Rapids. The female Harlequin Duck was
still present between Bate Island and the north end of Champlain Bridge.
There was also a male hybrid Barrow's x Common Goldeneye feedi
Reached the area at the arboretum about 11 ma and looked about,walked,drove
till 1.00 pm when as I was about to0 drive out I saw about 150 of these
birds in the very top of a group of tall trees close to College Ave East and
Victoria Rd S.Good luck.

At 1 pm today, December 21st, there were five Tundra Swans - three adults and
two immatures - in the Detroit River visible from St. Rose Park. They
accompanied the normal wintering flock of around 100 Canvasbacks.
St. Rose Park is at the end of St. Rose Avenue in Windsor.

Last week we reported a single yellow-throated warbler at our feeder.
Half a dozen people came from afar to have a look during this past
week, but it did not reappear.

The cancellation of the Kingston Christmas count last Sunday was a
disappointment to many and certainly had an impact on the number of birds
reported this week. No one seems to be looking at waterfowl; the only duck
mentioned was a male Hooded Merganser at the Millhaven ferry dock last
