past week have resulted in a drop of action at both feeders and in the

My GO train commute from Richmond Hill to Toronto has been a little more
interesting the last couple of mornings. I have seen what I am sure are
Black-crowned Night Heron's. Today there had to be easily a half-dozen perched
in the same tree which is on the East bank of the Don river
Thursday morning, on a frozen embayment in the Otonabee River immediately north
of Lock #23, a Golden Eagle was dining on the carcass of a very large carp.
Directions; Go to the Ashburnham Dr. exit of Hwy. 115 in Peterborough. Go

Almost all of the birds seen at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in the past
week were also seen the week before and were duly reported a week ago.
The implication is not that birding has slowed down for the winter, but

today I had a prolonged look at a Northern Shrike doing its hovering hunting
technique which I have rarely seen and I flushed two Northern Flickers from a
shrubby area adjacent to the drainage canal on the 10th Line
