Eastern Phoebes showed up here on Saturday: Bruce Brydon had one at the Holland
Landing lagoons while Kevin Shackleton and Mike Van den Tillaart had another at
the Cawthra Mulock reserve in NW Newmarket. The latter two birders were
leading a hike for the West Humber Naturalists that day.
On Saturday I was in the same spot where I had seen the (possible) Golden Eagle
on Friday. This time I saw what I assume was the same bird, perched, with it's
back to me. When I saw it Friday I could see that it had a dark brown head and
chest, with what I can only describe as gold highlights. F

that at 14:15 today, Sunday, March 29, 2008, the first egg of 2009 was
seen clearly in the Sheraton Hamilton Peregrine Falcon nest.

We saw 2 male Eastern Bluebirds on Bowesville Road south of the Ottawa
airport yesterday afternoon. Did not see any other Bluebirds in that
general area. Also saw a Song Sparrow on Earl Armstrong Road east of
Bowesville Road.

Had my first of season COMMON LOON yesterday while doing some video in the back
yard here. It flew over calling around 10:00 am.
Other migrants in the area here have included EASTERN PHOEBE yesterday in the
yard, and GREAT EGRET at Wheatley Harbour on March 24th.

This morning Matt Redsell, of Port Burwell, spotted a Black-crowned
Night Heron flying in the harbour area (Big Otter Creek) in Port
Burwell.
He contacted Ron Allensen, who contacted me, to check it out. We went
to the harbour about 9:00 am this morning in rainy weather and

We found one of the immature female Snowy Owls at approx 9am yesterday, March
28, sitting on the roof of 310 Annagem Blvd. Not easy to see from the road, as
it was resting on a vent setback from the front of the building. We were not
sharp enough to find the Kestrels!

First, once again, I was unable to send messages to Ontbirds while using a
hotel wifi so this report is late.
Last Wednesday and Thursday there were upwards of 500 Boneparte's Gulls
along with several dozen displaying Common and Red-breasted Mergansers
feeding on schools of some kind of minnow
On Saturday morning there was a solitary male Eastern Bluebird at the west
end of Mail Road. Mail Road is the first road going west from Wesleyville
Rd. south of the 401, Interchange #456.

Today there was a Blue Morph Snow Goose in with the Tundra Swans and assorted
others at the Aylmer Wildlife Managment Area (at least up until 6:00pm). I
understand that it had arrived Friday at some point.
