The Chuck-will's-widow was singing constantly under the full moon from 12:45
a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday, June 25 from the south side of Doyle Road. At one
point it was very close to the road and we heard it growl and click.
Randy Beacler and I finished our Whip-poor-will survey route about midnight
Chuck-wills-widow still there.
Tonight I arrived just at 9 pm and the bird was calling already.
Approximately 10 people were listening. The mosquitoes drove all but three
of us off before we saw it fly across the road into the "field" about 9:30
pm.

With the summer solstice now behind us, there is a hiatus between the
spring and fall bird migrations at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The
focus instead is on birds, mostly water birds, that should be breeding
further north, in some cases much further north, but which are appearing
in small numb
7 of us had excellent views of the Acadian Flycatcher today at Happy Valley
about 6 mins. into the area behind the sign advertising the park. It sang many
times from a round clearing of trees off the trail to the left. This was close
to the adjacent stream.
