Gillian Horgan and I found the Little Blue Heron reported at the Richmond
Rd wetland yesterday. We were there at 11 a.m Thursday (today). The bird
was out of sight and then fluttered up briefly into view. A few minutes
later it flew up to a tree at the back of the marsh.

The three MUTE SWANS that were seen offshore on the 10th are rare at the
Point and one off only a small handful of records for this species. The weed
has returned to the entr
It should be pointed out that the ten BALD EAGLES seen on September 10
represent a new daily high for Presqu'ile. Also, a NORTHERN SHOVELER
was seen on September 11 at Gull Island.

This has been another good birding week at Presqu'ile Provincial Park,
with a steady stream of fall migrants passing through or over the Park.
One or two uncommon birds were among them.
Small numbers of diving ducks are beginning to gather in Popham Bay,

I did bird Highland Woods today and found most of the reported birds. It is
full of interesting birds now. I did find an Olive Sided Flycatcher. I did
not see this bird reported, but got some good looks.

I have been absolutely bombarded with e mails on how to access the woods, so
here they are for everyone to see. PLease note to those that I already sent
directions, that I had initially said to take a right at highview avenue when
travelling south on wharnccliffe.
I spent yesterday Sept. 15 at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in Brighton.
Shorebirding was quite productive along the beaches, with AMERICAN
GOLDEN-PLOVER (5), BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER (14), SANDERLING (11) being the most
common species. A juvenile RED KNOT was feeding with several BLACK-BELLIED
PLO
NW winds and good thermals on Sep.15 brought in over 1700 migrating
Broad-winged Hawks over the CMRW platform in sw Whitby. Counting kept
everyone alert, as many of the 2208 raptors were high-flying & coming
in on several fronts. Most of the Broad-wingeds flew over in the
afternoon hours.
