On Friday, March 18th I observed a Tree Swallow flying over the marsh at Port
Rowan. As you turn the corner to go into Port Rowan there is a large parking
lot overlooking the bay. The TRES was observed flying and landing in a tree
nearby. There were probably 600-700 Tundra Swans and numerous d
Hi all,
I returned to the Ridge Road Winery after being at Beamer, around 5:55 and
met up with my friend Mourad Jabra who seemed deflated after being at the
winery for a while and not locating the Mountain Bluebird. With my scope
ready I decided to give a final search with him and at 6:00 p.
Hello fellow Birders,
Following up on Mark Gawn's report today, we were unable to relocate the
White-fronted Goose.
However, at 7:30pm, 2 Ross's Geese flew in together with several hundred Canada
Geese to the still-frozen Moody Drive Quarry Pond.
This afternoon around 6:00pm, on the ice edge ju

In the muddy fields surrounding Kettles Road south of Ottawa, five AMERICAN
WOODCOCKS were peenting this evening just after sunset. A single WILSON'S

The Mountain Bluebird was seen in the vineyard again at about 6:00 p.m. by
Barry Cherriere and Mourad Jabra hunting at the back of the field along with
a male Eastern Bluebird. After about 10 minutes they disappeared, possibly
to roost but this is hopeful for those who wish to look tomorrow.

Hello birders,
Mira Furgoch and I searched for Snow Geese this afternoon and found a
significant flock near Green Valley. There were easily over 50'000 and it
was more likely around 100'000. I'll review my photos to get a more accurate
estimate. It's difficult to estimate with so many geese flying
Today went down to the Long Point area with Margaret Bain, Paul Riss and
Richard Pope and unsuccessfully looked for the Greater White-fronted Geese
reported earlier in the week.As a consolation we did see a juvenile Golden
Eagle soaring over the treetops just south of the platform at Lee Brown.
Just a little more information on this bird since I have had several emails
asking its status.Barb Charlton, Dave Don, Rob Dobos and myself found
this bluebird sallying from the fence posts to the ground about 11:50 a.m..
The bird was noticeably structurally different from a male Eastern Bluebi

At about 11:30am today, I had a quick but clear view of a Townsend's
Solitaire about 30 feet away from me as I looked west from the living
room of our home near Bedford Mills - this is about 40km north of
Kingston (off Perth Road). The bird immediately appeared to vacate the
area - possibly acc
While tasting wine at Ridge Road Winery at 1205 Ridge Road near 10th Road East
we noticed a bluebird in the vineyard behind which upon closer inspection was a
female Mountain Bluebird. It seems to be catching insects and quite happy in
the field behind the building.
