At 9 am this morning Josh Nieuwenhuis discovered an American Avocet feeding on
the Inner Bay shoreline below the overlook on the BSC headquarters property.
The bird has been most cooperative all morning and has been seen well by most
of the BSC staff.

While I was observing 100+ Common Redpolls at my backyard feeders this morning
in downtown Ottawa, I easily picked out a very pale Hoary Redpoll among them.
All the redpolls were jittery and very flighty and I soon saw why. A Copper's

at Hillman Marsh. The report will give you a sense of the birds that might be
seen at Point Pelee National Park at this time of year.

Hermit Thrush
The small flock of Bohemian Waxwings (20) that John Watson found in Newmarket
yesterday may have been part of a larger flock that I found a few kms away this
afternoon.
This larger group - approx. 200 birds - was feeding from fruit trees on the
west side of Plantation Gate a short distance
The horned grebe was present at Reesor's Pond and a pair of lesser
yellowlegs flew in to join the large bird population present on this day.
