A White Pelican was seen today by Paul Mackenzie, Bud Rowe and I on the
Napanee River (between Belleville and Kingston). Thanks to Terry Sprague for
alerting us. The bird is hanging out with 40-50 Mute Swans and a handful of
Tundra Swans. If you find the swans, scan the flock carefully - it is most
The four geese were present today at 5 pm in the Hillsburgh pond. Had checked
in the morning at 8:30 today but they were absent. They seem to leave for the
day to presumably feed in the surrounding area fields and return mid afternoon
to the pond.

Today (November 18th) from 12:15 - 12:55 pm, I observed 4 Greater
White-fronted Geese (2 adults and 2 juveniles) among 700 (approx) Canada
Geese and 2 Richardson's Cackling Geese along the Carp Floodplain in Carp,
ON. Mike Tate and Bob Cermack had 5 Greater White-fronted's at this

Although we relocated the eider early this morning, once again the lighting
conditions were less than ideal and our views of the bird were still quite
distant.
By mid morning the lighting improved and the bird became more cooperative
offering much closer views than yesterday even

Flies down river (towards falls) at least 1km. , then flies back to repeat the
cycle. Tough to photograph because it stays mid river.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. I viewed a female Common Eider Flying West about 50
yards off shore . The bird veered to the Southwest as it approached the point
and was watched by scope as it continued Southwest eventually falling out of
view as it fell below horizon and lake chop.
