Twenty participants came out for the 6th annual Collingwood Christmas Bird
Count on Saturday, 28 December 2013. Here is a summary of our results:
a.. Count Day Species: 50 (no others known for count week), which is slightly
below the average of 51; lowest species total was 42 and h
A male eastern towhee is being seen regularly at the visitor centre feeders
at Rondeau Provincial Park.
Staff have been seeing it for several weeks.
Take exit 101 off the 401 and follow signs to the park. A valid park pass
must be displayed in all vehicles entering a provincial park.

While out driving today we came across 4 Tundra Swans behind the Port Colbourne
Hospital & Marina parking lot.
About 3:00 pm on the Niagara River just north of the Peace bridge on the
Canadian side at the parkette across from Fishin Canada Shop, we found what
appeared to be a juvenile/first y

with some mist; SPECIES RECORDED: 44 (just below average of 46-- low of 39
species, high of 54 species recorded in the last 10 years). INDIVIDUAL BIRDS
RECORDED:
Saw a snowy owl this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. perched on a hydro pole beside
the road just outside of Stratford on highway 7 going towards New Hamburg.
I was able to get several good pictures.

Apologies for the late posting - yesterday I spotted a Snowy Owl on the
southern portion of Ottawa's Central Experimental Farm campus, along Fisher Ave
just north of Baseline Road. The individual was perched at the top of a
telephone pole just around dusk at 4:25pm and swooped d
The 43rd annual Meaford CBC was held on Saturday December 28. The
day was mild (-1 to +4) with light winds. Snow
was deep. The Georgian Bay shoreline had a bit of an ice edge.

ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial
birding organization.
This years Carleton Place CBC took place on Dec 27th under reasonable
conditions. 28 observers took to the field combined with 25 feeder watchers.
While there were very few Redpolls and Grosbeaks, and there were also no
Bohemian Waxwings or Crossbills, the count still got 44 species total a
Leucistic Red-tailed Hawk this morning (Dec 30th), at 9:30 am sitting in a
tree beside the road on the west side of North Rd approx. ½ km south of Hwy
45.
At first thought it was a Snowy Owl but had the foresight to put a pair of
bins in the car which helped prove otherwise at closer inspectio
