The Willet observed yesterday at noon was still present today at 7:30pm
with good numbers of Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs, in flooded field on
west side of 8th Line north of Britannia.
Also just south of this field and on east side of road I had one male Rusty
Blackbird. It was singing and moving
Today, Sunday 4 May 2014, there was an excellent selection of shorebirds at
Hillman Marsh in the shorebird cell, which is managed specially for spring
shorebirds. Highlights late this afternoon were:
9 Long-billed Dowitchers in breeding plumage
2 Marbled Godwits
3 Willets
10 Pectoral Sandpipers

Currently a lot of people are birding Point Pelee National Park. Timely
reports are greatly appreciated. Even if the directions are a minimal,
reports can help. Please remember locations and names used among
friends may not be universally known. Give other birders an even chance

shorebird, Including the Glossy Ibis and Ruff, were found a few years
ago and single Willet yesterday. I ended up wading along the entire
western edge of the tree

Hi folks,
A few of us have just seen one of the two Henslow's Sparrows reported from
earlier today. This one is due west of, and over the footpath from, the
"Serengeti tree" (Honey-locust), accessible a short distance north of the Tip
turnaround parking area.

A couple of interesting finds in Ottawa today despite the ongoing rain.
At Britannia Conservation Area there was a very vocal and active Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher this morning. It was moving about the peninsula extending into
Mud Lake from the south side, roughly 100 m northeast of the boardwalk

Birding continues to be excellent at Rondeau.
The eastern end of South Point trail is alive with several large flocks of
warblers before the washout. A female Cerulean Warbler and a Clay-colored
Sparrow have been present at times, among at least 17 species of warbler
(with
Mid-morning there was a small flock of wood duck, male and female, in the pond
just south of the kids play structure at the south east side of High Park. A
few more wood duck were in the pond off Windigo way.
First dike road just north of park gate. Across # 1102. Park near ship ahoy
kayak rentals and look out to flooded field. 10 birds present. You'll see a
horse here too.

A significant influx of birds this morning was punctuated by 2 HENSLOW'S
SPARROWS -- both observed during Friends of Point Pelee guided walks. One was
showing well on the West Beach Trail 300 m north of the Tip

Hello Folks:
We had our first MALE Rose Breasted Grosbeak of the season here today (Sunday
May/04 @ 1115 AM). Sat at the sunflower seed feeder for over 5 minutes taking
his fill!! Nice to see them back!!
I put the Hummingbird Feeders out yesterday..so I am hoping them and the
Orioles are not f
A group of us just had the YB chat in the cactus field which was posted by
Lev fried yesterday. Bird is flying between brushpiles.

Good morning birders,
It's a good morning to be out in Rondeau. A nice variety of warblers have
been seen on South Point, including a heard-only Prothonotary as well as
Blue-winged and Cape May.
The wind in the last few days has made Rondeau Bay extremely wavy, but
today is calmer and I was able

I just found a Helsows Sparrow at the Serengeti Tree among the west beach
footpath, 300m north of the tip parking lot.
Josh Vandermuelen and Jeremy Bensette and a few others got to see it as well.

In addition to the Horned Grebes reported yesterday, there were three
Red-necked Grebes near to the boat launch at Shirleys Bay this morning at
8:00 am.
Directions
(taken from NeilyWorld): From Highway 417 (The Queensway) take exit 134
(Moodie Drive). If travelling west, the 0.4 km offramp dumps
