Just had good looks at a Philadelphia Vireo at the entrance to the meadow in
Thickson Woods down the path entrance. Thickson Woods is at the very south end
of Thickson Rd in Whitby.

It's a wet morning at Rondeau, but there are lots of birds in the woods to
look at for those braving the weather.
No real rarities reported yet, but an orange variant Scarlet Tanager
hanging out with several normal Scarlets on Tulip Tree Trail was exciting.

the south side of road. Bird was moving south.

Spent 45 minutes at Prospect Cemetery this morning starting at 7am when the
gates opened. Soon after my arrival I heard the distinct 'quick, three beers'
call of the Olive-sided and eventually found it atop a dead tree (200m north of
Rogers Rd.). It flew to another tree where I got a
Tony Bigg, Bob Prentice and I had a female Prothonotary Warbler at Second Marsh
at 9:30 today. The bird was foraging at eye level just south of the T-junction
of the trail that leads from the parking lot to the viewing tower and Cool
Hollow. A huge fallout of warblers and orioles was evident

The first summer Franklin's Gull is in field opposite where Smith's Longspurs
were on Mersea Road 2. Now. Lots of gulls in this field.

Most of the smaller gulls took off in the direction of Hillman Marsh, and the
first summer Franklin's flew too. There are still a lot of gulls left. The best
spot to view the gulls is on Mersea Road 21 (not Road 2) opposite where the
Smith's Longspurs were.

Hello birders,
Lakes have opened up in Algonquin Park and all but the most shaded areas
are free of snow. Winds from the south have facilitated the arrival of
several new spring migrants, including Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Scarlet
Tanager, Indigo Bunting, and 15 warbler species, all now with

This morning at around 10am. there were 4 ARCTIC TERNS
sitting on the small reef.
A short but heavy squall moved them away from the shorelimne. No photos
because it was dull and I have lots from Churchill. Manitoba.

On Sunday, May 11th., while walking early in the morning on the Missy Lake
Trail, east end of Wolf Howl Pond, we spotted a Mocking bird flying down to get
seed that a photographer had put out. We spotted this bird both coming and
going on the trail. I have never seen a Mocking

Birding has been great today at Rondeau with good numbers and diversity of
warblers low down and at close range. We haven't received many reports, but
Pony Barn, Maintenance and especially Bennett Rd. have been excellent today
when I've visited.

This afternoon there was a first summer Lesser Black-backed Gull sitting
with Herring and Ring-billed Gulls on the beach on the west side of the
Cobourg wharf. From the 401 take exit 474 south to the wharf. The beach is
to the left.

Canada Warbler is currently,at the bottom of Cool Hollow Trail as it
intersects with the Oshawa Trail, is currently in the spruce to the right if
the sign.
Oshawa Second Marsh is off off 401 exit at Farewell st turn left on Col Sam

The franklin's gull returned to the field where Jean Iron reported it from
earlier this afternoon. It has been there for over an hour. There is a
Whimbrel at Wheatley harbour on the break wall (17 passed the tip of Pelee
this morning too). For Pelee listers, there is also a sedge wren at the

Was sitting on the pier but quickly took off going south with a
double-crested.

The Red-necked Phalarope was still present in the eastern most lagoon of the
Port Perry Sewage Lagoons at 4 pm today.
Access to the lagoons is from the east end of Conc. 8 off of Simcoe street
north in Port Perry.

Several hundred Cliff Swallows are busy making nests at the tops of the
elevators on Heritage Rd in downtown Collingwood.Also saw 1 Barn Swallow,
approx. 50 Tree Swallows and 2 male Purple Martins and 1 female.
Thousands of gnat_like insects were rising in clouds so they have lots to eat.
Hello All Birders:
Tonight we had two male Indigo Buntings for the third day in a row, plus two
females at the same time. They usually show up around 6 pm and stay at our
feeders in the window and maple tree on the east side of the house. Location
is 952 Ellen Avenue, Glenburnie (North End
SNOW in MID-MAY, Erieau.
The snowy owl reported by Frank and Rob Pinilla on May 8th near Eriieau was
respotted today. We missed on this bird last weekend, however Andy Eveland and
myself located it this morning around 11:30 a.m. on lagoon road south of
Bissnet Line.This is my first snowy
