Hi folks,
It's fall again, and that means another early October session is bound to
take place in Hamilton. On October 4th, I will be leading the OFO trip for
the Hamilton/Burlington area.
I have some big shoes to fill, as the venerable Tom
I visited the Almonte Lagoons between 10 am and noon today (Saturday). There
were well over 1000 Canada Geese including some good candidates for Cackling
geese. Also lots of Wood Ducks and Blue-winged Teal and a few Yellowlegs. As
well there was one Snow goose (white)

Birders,
I realize that posting anything but Greater White-fronted Geese during the
weekend of the OFO conference is a bit taboo, but I figured I'd break the
rules a bit to advise of some Black Vultures seen today in the Niagara
area, specifically Queenston Heights.

Another Greater White-fronted Goose has been found in the Ottawa area. Ray
Holland just called to say he is looking at one at the Almonte lagoons beside
the Almonte water tower.
The juvenile Ross's Goose found yesterday at Andrew Haydon Park in the west end
of Ottawa was on the Ottawa River nea
One of our FLAP volunteers found a female Black-backed Woodpecker at the corner
of Metcalfe and Slater Sts. in downtown Ottawa this morning at 7. Unfortunately
it was already dead from a window strike, but I thought it was interesting
enough to report anyway.
