Hi Everyone
Sorry about all the reports! Forgot to mention that I had a flock of 60+
Sandhill Cranes along Smith Road off Milton Road near Navan this afternoon. Due
to the unusually mild conditions the cranes are staying later as are all the
geese. No cold and no snow cover.
Good Birding,
Hi everyone
The Bullock’s Oriole again showed well today at Pakenham. As usually its
skittish but always returns to the apple tree at the east end of Dalkeith St.
Good birding,

Hi Ontbirds
I spent the day birding along the Ottawa River and south east of Ottawa. It was
a great day and the weather conditions were more like October. In fact it was
the first time I’ve every birded the eastern sewage lagoons in December.
Normally everything is frozen and covered by snow.
For anyone planning on coming to the park next week, be advised Rondeau is
closed to the public on Tuesday December 8, Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 for
deer herd reduction.

Hi all,
The Purple Sandpiper reported on eBird yesterday and again this morning was

foraging on the algae. Also present are a single Dunlin and a Snowy Owl.
Here are directions from Fred Helleiner's posts:

Greetings All, I was outside on the roof fiddling with the Christmas lights
when a group of 5 cranes flew overhead. They were travelling north as they
followed the Lake Simcoe shoreline. Also of note was the red-bellied
woodpecker which has returned to the area after a 5 month hiatus.

For several days now I have been having a leucistic grackle coming to my
feeder. It has white on its wings and half its tail is white.
For me the more surprising thing is that I have never before recorded a
grackle in this area in december!

Just to be clear there were no Pelicans at Erieau two days ago as Blake
mentioned yesterday. A slight miscalculation on my part from what I thought was
a reliable source. I assumed that my Intel was correct and enthusiasm got the
better of me after a lack lustre morning of birding save for an ug
A number of us are currently watching the Bullock's Oriole feeding on apples in
the same location described below in Bruce's email. Look very hard as it's very
easy to miss. Good luck to anyone chasing it!
